The Canon C500 is our high end digital cinema camera. It comes along on almost every shoot, and—with its incredibly sharp images and deep dynamic range—consistently produces stunning images. We’re not the only ones who think highly of this camera, either. In the past couple of years, it has seen use on some of the biggest Hollywood films, including Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, 2014’s Need for Speed, and—most recently—the Oscar nominated film The Big Short.
One thing we really like about this camera is the range of flexibility. Yes, it can be rigged up with a matte box, follow focus, shoulder rig, recorder, monitors, etc. However, it often finds its way out in its smallest form, essentially mimicking the popular Canon C300 while allowing us the possibility to shoot 4K Raw. This allows us to get our clients the most detailed, high-resolution images available.
While this camera is relatively new to us, we’re already very impressed with it’s images and cannot wait to use it on more films & client projects.
